RMRUG in Denver on January 27 was dedicated to a discussion of the IA-64
development.
The information was presented by Scott Emo (of HP). Scott has been on
the design team for the IA-64 solution since its' inception. He
emphatically stated that this concept is "not guaranteed". The
statement was made that they will "probably" be able to coexist on the
same physical box. There would also "probably" be processor determinate
support for the O/S.
There is no way at this point to ensure that if they do implement this
that there won't be some sort of "trigger switch" to prevent alternate
O/S booting for a particular processor.
