Hello Friends;

Randy Smith asked if the new 5.5 version of MPE/iX will be supported on the
957s. Randy noted that he read in another publication that 5.5 arrived, and
said:

>I found
>the following passage on the front page in an Article entitled
>"New Release of MPE/iX debuts at HP World '96"
>
>"MPE/iX began shipping in August on HP3000 series 9x8, 9x9KS, and
>99x machines."
>
>That's okay for our 958, but does this mean that our 957 is not going
>to be a supported platform?!?! Or is it just an error?

Randy, it would be real front page news if 5.5 didn't run on every
RISC-based model of HP 3000. Since the HP 3000 went to the RISC era, every
version of MPE/iX has run on every RISC-based system. It's a benefit that
the HP 9000 customers don't enjoy: total backward compatibility. So long as
you're willing to add memory when needed, you can always go to the latest
version of MPE.

It's these little details of 3000 reporting that can make us worth the $99...
