UPS replacement

HP3000/969 with a 3KVM HP PowerTrust UPS (Product# A2998A). 
Seems the UPS went south (it's not a battery issue, although the batteries 
are nearing their EOL).
 
Procurement proposed replacing the above UPS with an HP R3000XR and a 
couple of 'Extended Runtime Modules'.

Can anyone see any potential issues with the suggested course of action?
