return to Jazz and pickup GNU core (Jazz -> Freeware -> GNU) to get gzip.

/bin/tar can only handle compress style compression with a command line
option (eg tar tzf my-file.tar.Z), not the gzip style compression (which
would probably need gnutar ;-)

I doubt that the generic GNU or gzip sites have an MPE/iX executable but
would love to hear different news. HP-UX binaries won't run on MPE/iX.
