Perhaps the fault is with us and our expectations. Then again, HP could be
to blame for not providing us enough information, or not making that
information clear enough so that false expectations are not set. While the
old expression "Never presume" is a wise decision for new relationships and
investigations, if followed blindly we would never get anywhere. For me, I
always see the human face of HP - the people I deal with on a regular basis,
so I sometimes forget that with some 90,000 employees, HP is a huge
organization that can suffer from intertia and be slow to respond to the
latest technology movements in the industry -- like the rapid acceptance of
Winsock or the incredible spread of the Web or the need for 32bit ODBC
drivers -- even when some of these movements are generated from within.

So maybe we shouldn't have presumed that HP's CD-ROM product would have been
Winsock compatible, but let's hope they are responding now! If I can offer
some further advice, "Don't expect to waterski behind an oil supertanker in
the Straight of Juan de Fuca!" :)

Cheers.
