Not to trivialize this thread but ... Who coined the expression "Spin
Doctors" and by inference "spin" in politics?
Hint though you may or may not loathe him there is no need to fear him.

There is a reason that I bring this bit of trivia to light. The debate is
always control by the radicals. No one is passionately lukewarm. People like
Dr. Thompson define how we look at the political debate. The radical
becomes mainstream and new thinkers push the limits of radical thought.

All political/philosophical behavior rides the pendulum of time. Each swing
between conservative and progressive (which IMHO is the antonym of
conservative not the commonly used liberal) is slightly different. The
reason that this difference occurs is that though we can't change the swing
we can change the wobble. This change is always instigated at the edges, the
extremes, the far end of the radii. It is done by giving us new ways to
perceive the world around us; giving us new ways to see old problems; giving
us reason to hope that the current Gordian knot will be untied in the
future.

Again IMHO, that is why threads like this are good. So spin, weave and
create new possibilities. Be bound only by the nature of truth and the
limits of intellect.

I love this list.
