Problem appeared to be with unprintable characters such as escape and/or
carriage control characters. Stripping all unprintable characters and
carriage control from the attach file allowed it to be emailed.

In this case it is OK not to have any of that stuff in the file. Don't know
what I will do if I ever need to email a file from the HP3000 with carriage
control or escape sequences intact.

Upgrading MAIL program to Version A.02.11 (25Mar2005) from A.01.98 did not
fix the problem:
