Thanks, that worked. Now I want to be able to run telnet from a job,
and I see from the archives that it isn't possible. I'm not sure I want
to tackle installing perl and using the perl routine you posted ( what I
don't know about unix could fill volumes! ), I just want a job to email
a short note when it finishes.
