We use a dial-up to an ISP to provide email for the THERMOLINK.COM domain
(the ISP resolves the domain). We have MailSite from Rockliffe running on
an NT email server that dials out on a timed schedule to get the email from
the ISP and maps it to our individual mail boxes. This software
occasionally aborts with an error message from the POP program. My ISP is
telling me that it suspects bad email headers in inbound email to our domain
that they do not have a problem with because they are just handling SMTP and
not POP; however, the MailSite POP software is succumbing to it. When this
happens, the email server will stall and it can take days to resolve the
problem (since our email server is remote to us because there are very few
ISP's in the Garrettsville area, like none, even AOL is a long-distance
call).

I am talking to the folks at Rockliffe, but I am really worried that someone
could send me email that will take down my email server, so I am looking for
other software that will provide the same functionality as MailSite (dial
out to an ISP and get email, and some time down the road, use a "real"
internet connection to get our email ourselves - resolving out domain
ourselves). I have heard about Post.Office, has anyone used this? What
software are you using for this? Is there anything available for the
HPe3000?

Plus, is my ISP right? Can someone send "bad" email that will cause my
email server to hiccup or are they just blowing smoke? (I don't trust them
a lot as you can tell).

Any other suggestions or ideas are welcome as well.
