I am not famliar with lnyx. But I did find info on it at ftp://lynx.cc.ukans.edu/pub/lynx/lynx2-8/features.html and http://kufacts.cc.ukans.edu/about_lynx/about_lynx.html.
This source does say that lynx has been updated to handle HTTP 1.1. Furthermore when I refer to Java Web Server and servlets, it is strictly server side Java. Absolutely no Java is required on the browser. Only HTTP 1.0 or HTTP 1.1. Lynx appears to be a browser for character cell terminals. As long as it supports HTTP, there is no problem. :-)
