My predecessor installed Nike array enclosures, hardware mirroring. When he
configured them with inconsistent transient space, excluding ldev1 which is
75%, some are 100, and some are 75. See below:
LDEV : 1 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER1)
Device | 16411488 | 8088112 ( 49%) | 8323376 ( 51%) |
Permanent | 12308592 ( 75%) | 7978432 ( 49%) | 4330160 ( 26%) |
Transient | 12308592 ( 75%) | 109680 ( 1%) | 8323376 ( 51%) |
LDEV : 2 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER2)
Device | 16411488 | 10515648 ( 64%) | 5895840 ( 36%) |
Permanent | 16411488 (100%) | 10515648 ( 64%) | 5895840 ( 36%) |
Transient | 16411488 (100%) | 0 ( 0%) | 5895840 ( 36%) |
LDEV : 3 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER3)
Device | 16411488 | 10427488 ( 64%) | 5984000 ( 36%) |
Permanent | 16411488 (100%) | 10427488 ( 64%) | 5984000 ( 36%) |
Transient | 16411488 (100%) | 0 ( 0%) | 5984000 ( 36%) |
LDEV : 4 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER4)
Device | 16411488 | 10482432 ( 64%) | 5929056 ( 36%) |
Permanent | 16411488 (100%) | 10482432 ( 64%) | 5929056 ( 36%) |
Transient | 16411488 (100%) | 0 ( 0%) | 5929056 ( 36%) |
LDEV : 5 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER5)
Device | 16411488 | 8183232 ( 50%) | 8228256 ( 50%) |
Permanent | 12308608 ( 75%) | 6400304 ( 39%) | 5908304 ( 36%) |
Transient | 12308608 ( 75%) | 1782928 ( 11%) | 8228256 ( 50%) |
LDEV : 11 -- (MPEXL_SYSTEM_VOLUME_SET:MEMBER11)
Device | 16411488 | 8041824 ( 49%) | 8369664 ( 51%) |
Permanent | 12308608 ( 75%) | 6400688 ( 39%) | 5907920 ( 36%) |
Transient | 12308608 ( 75%) | 1641136 ( 10%) | 8369664 ( 51%) |
My question is: is the inconsistency with the transient space the cause of MPE
using ldev 5 and 11 more than the others ldev's? As you can see they are all the
same size and for what I understand mpe writes to the disc drives equally. Am I
under the wrong impression?
I have installed software mirroring in my previous shop, don't have much
experience with Nike drives, I have always configured, again with the exception
of ldev 1, 100% transient space.
Are Nike drives treated differently?
Would changing the transient space to 100% solve the problem?
TIA
