Actually, this works very nicely under Vplus and Transact. Several years
ago I wrote a rather large Transact application for a poultry porcessor.
This utilized Vplus forms, a scanner wedge, and where needed dual-port
terminals to which barcode printers were direct-attached. I could scan
and/or print the needed multi-format barcode labels with no difficulty.
The barcode printer driver I actually wrote as a Cobol subroutine, simply
because the needed escape sequences both coming and going were more readily
handled by Cobol.
I'll admit that my Transact is rusty (very!), but I'll be happy to help in
any way I can! Oh, and yes, it hit Image databases as well....
