Hold on thar.  It'd be true if by just tapping on the reference with your
pencil a pirated copy of the original were delivered to you at no cost and
hence no royalty paid to the author.

The entire premise of the web is 'to make copies' of a server's pages (and
files) at a client's location.   I am assuming that the judge in the LDS
trial
does not have jurisdiction over the web site hosting the copyrighted LDS
materials.   Otherwise, the judge could just shut the server down.
