Hostname issues are by far and away the number one sendmail issue, so it's
likely these same issues can cause trouble with Samba too.
Take a look at http://www.bixby.org/mark/sendmailix.html, System Requirements,
third bullet, for the proper way to set up your e3000 name and DNS stuff. I
admit the directions are kind of terse, so feel free to ask followup questions.
Someday if I have the time I will write an automated configuration checker that
will be able to tell you whether or not your e3000 has been named correctly.
