In the Air Force we used to tell the new guys that the Tower required us to
do a light density check at night during foggy conditions. The individual
would turn on his flashlight, walk out a few yards, turn around, and then
say over the radio "How dense am I?" Eventually, we would tell him he's
pretty dense.
