...and network printing is a insurmountable problem?  of course, we know
nothing of your environment, but your saying that you have world-wide users
(to me) implies they're making network connections.  mpe *really* likes to
talk to jet-direct devices (external or internal on laser jets) and i think
it would be worth your investigation.  if you've got a mix of laser and
impact (or all impact), check raven's archives on how folks have hooked all
sorts of non-network printers to external jet-directs.  hth            - d
