I actually met Scott McNealy in Phoenix in 2000 and spoke with him in
person. At that time he described HP as a great printer company that was
not commited to Unix. He predicted that there would only be perhaps two
UNIX's long term, Solaris and AIX. It has been a consistent theme with him
for years. I think you can find a lot of quotes over the years that are
similar in tone and meaning. I think he really believed that at the time
and still does.

Subject: OT: Would HP abandon it Unix customers?
Interesting article...
McNealy Seeks HP-Sun Unix Union

Here's a quote....
"Although the memo appears sincere, McNealy, known for publicly baiting
rivals, states his case by asserting that HP has abandoned its Unix
customers and developers and has relegated its Unix operating system to
Intel's Itanium system."
I just find it hard to believe that HP would abandon it's customers.... I
guess it depends on what your definition of "customer" is.
