Looking back over this thread, I realized that we've been talking about
two different things in answering the question
"a) After I telnet to the telnet access card in a DTC, does it look to
me like I have a telnet connection to the HP3000, or do I then have a DTC
prompt and I connect to the host of my choice, or are both methods
support (similar to a "regular" DTC connection)?"

That's because there are two different ways to use a TAC:
1) Telnet to the IP address assigned to the DTC (not the TAC)
2) Telnet to one of the IP "alias" addresses of the supported hosts

In case 1), you have something that works like a direct/modem connection
to a DTC port that has "Enable Switching" turned on: you get the "DTC>"
prompt, and can connect to any available host.

In case 2), you never "see" the DTC at all; the DTC passes your traffic
to the host that matches the "alias" IP address used, and you get what
looks like a direct host Telnet connection.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion.
