I have only really worked in two cities in my life which are only an hour apart.
I'm still young and a third city (hopefully Titusville, FL) is on the way in a
year.

Baton Rouge is a great place: if you like 90 degree heat and 90% humidity for 5
months out of the year, consider it freezing at 40 degrees, don't mind there are
only 3 four lane highways that go all the way across the city (lots of
subdivisions that break up potential highway paths).

Baton Rouge is wonderful if you like the Mississippi River, summer outdoor
activities, would like to visit New Orleans often but never want to live there,
are Catholic, and enjoy good and fattening foods (especially seafood).

The only other thing I could say about Baton Rouge is that it is the state
capital and a university town. Unfortunately, this tends to severely dampen any
unique culture Baton Rouge would have had. A few years ago I worked for two
weeks in a city in a northern state on the Great Lakes which was very similar to
Baton Rouge and I barely noticed that I left Baton Rouge.
