Eek!  Has it been that long?

A Real Soon Now version of the Splash! Native Mode SPL compiler will be
able to generate C as an intermediate language, enabling the compilation
of SPL code on just about any platform.  You would still need to deal
with the OS API differences on each platform, but this is probably a lot
easier than rewriting the program manually.
