Throw away this obsolete version of Perl and either obtain 5.002 that is
bundled with gcc on http://jazz.external.hp.com, or get 5.003 from
ftp://ftp.orbitsw.com/pub/perl5.003.mov.gz. [...]46_12Feb199715:24:[log in to unmask]

At least you have jumpers to set! We just purchased a new C2983D
standalone DDS-2 drive for each system, and there are no indicators,
switches, etc., at all on the drive to indicate whether compression or
auto-eject are enabled - we have to depend upon DEVCTRL to set them and
hope we're right. Also, the only documentation we received with these
units were installation guides - no how-to-use info re: features, etc.
- and when we notified HP of this, they sent two more of the same
manual. <sigh>

Subject: [HP3000-L] Compression setting on C1504B

Could anyone tell me an easy way to find out if the setting for compression
is enabled on
a C1504B DDS tape drive. I looked at DEVCTRL.MPEXL.TELESUP, but it has no
'SHOW' option.
And I don't want to remove the drive from the system to see what the jumpers
are set at.
(At the very least, that is what I am trying to avoid doing) Thanks in advance.
