Good morning all,

This may or may not be the same situation, but my thought is
that the system would completely ignore the disk.

Waaaay back, we added several 9gb luns to an existing server
that didn't have the proper patch level to support them...booted
the server and they didn't show up at all. If I ran mapper from
the isl prompt, I could see them, but they didn't mount, didn't
show up in dstat all, etc. I added the proper patches, booted,
and all disks were available.

I think the only time a system ignores part of a disk, like only
seeing 73gb of a 144gb lun, is when you have it configured as
ldev1. We've got many systems that use luns over 4gb (usually
4.2 or 4.3gb) as ldev1. When doing the initial install, there's
a message like "TRUNCATING LDEV1 TO 4GB."

If your patch level doesn't support 144gb luns, I don't think
you'll see the disk at all.

ymmv....

Scott
