Thanks for following up. I have a 927 also that I think had basically the same problem as you encountered. I replaced the big battery but still had the system halt. Gave up at that point since I was only playing around with it. The wafer battery might be something I want to check out to see if I can resurrect it. 

Was the wafer battery pretty obvious once you open the case?
