Usually when I suggest that some strange behavior might be caused by
nonprinting characters where they shouldn't be, I think that the actual
probability of that is very low.  But it happens just often enough to keep
life interesting.  It bit me just today.  I had cut and pasted (using
Minisoft) a sample MPEX command from the MPEX help display to a logon script
in an EDITOR/3000 session.  I couldn't figure out why that command was being
silently ignored, until I used FCOPY;CHAR;HEX and saw the two nonprinting
characters at the beginning of that line.
