Thanks very much for all who responded. I finally was able to get in touch
with Vesoft support using the number 310-282-0420 !

As a couple of you have mentioned, the major problem had to do with host
checking for Remote File Access. Essentially, when Security 3000 does the
logon process, it checks for Remote File Access, which the PC has no
knowledge of, so the request sits there for a long time until it times out,
then everything proceeds. To NOT have it check for Remote File Access
(since a PC does not have it anyway), do the following:

1) Get signed on to your HP3000 (I know, you will have to wait)
2) Get into MPEX
3) Type CALC HOSTNODENAME which returns a name that you will use in a
minute
4) Sign on as MANAGER.VESOFT,DATA
5) Make a backup copy (if you like) of the file SECURCON.DATA.VESOFT
6) Edit the SECURCON.DATA.VESOFT file
7) At the top of the file, right after the host name, type the following:

$NO-HOST-CHECK namefromabovestep3

8) Keep the changes
9) Get into MPEX
10) Type PURGE @[log in to unmask](INTCODE=176)

Now, try your signon ! The first time will be somewhat slow, as Security
3000 rebuilds it 176 files, but the following times will be speedy !
