Maybe it can be as efficient as *you*  want it to be. I am not here to tell
you what your standards should be. As I said earlier, I am not impressed
with the "efficiency" of any 4GL.
(I just corrected my typing of 4GL. I held the shift key as I typed 4 so it
came out $GL. I'm not sure that was wrong but for the sake of clarity I
changed it.)
