The Wall Street Journal is reporting:
>Institutional Shareholder Services said Tuesday that it was recommending
>that Hewlett-Packard Co. shareholders vote in favor of the proposed
>acquisition of Compaq Computer Corp.
>
>In a brief press conference, ISS said that it believes "management's plan
>is achievable" and that the deal "provides an excellent means of providing
>shareholder value over the long run." But ISS also said it believes that
>dissident shareholder and board member Walter Hewlett "deserves
>shareholders' thanks" for raising key questions about the deal..
ISS advises pension funds and other clients holding a total of 28% of HP
shares. Their recommendation is not binding.
