I just checked the SEAGATE web site.  The drive you have is an ST31840LC,
not ST318404LC.  Also, it is an LVD drive, which will absolutely work on a
Fast SCSI2 (SE-SCSI) interface such as the one of the 928.  It's a fast
drive, a 10,000 RPM drive.

 

Anytime now, someone from HP will tell you that it's not supported on your
928.

 

Bask in the irony and enjoy it.  It's a fine drive.

Once again, the drive is ST318404LC and it seems it has the right
connection.  The system does recognize it as 18GB disk drive and DSTAT ALL
displays it as volume 2 - ST38140.  

 

However, in SYSGEN it does not allow me to change the id.  When I restore
@[log in to unmask]@ it seems everything goes back to LDEV 1...
