Don't do it.

At $10,000 a pop for each occurance, and how many years in Prison for deliberate copyright infringement, you will have to evaluate how important it is for you to either keep your job, or pay the penalty--later.

Here, honesty is the ONLY policy.

I worked for a major misfortune 500 company that got into it with Walker, Richer, and Quinn, and as I remember it, WRQ nicely told the company to cough up dough for licenses, or the company wasn't going to get any more.

Your particular situation is quite well described by "Moral Mazes--The World of Corporate Managers" by Robert Jackall; Oxford Press, Copyright 1988. At $14.95, it was well worth the purchase price.

People who give into pressures to compromise principle are in an ambiguous moral situation--like dividing by zero, once you compromise, anything is possible, it's just a matter of price. In the short term, compromise looks enticing; in the long term, it ususally is far too expensive for the expediency involved. These things pick up interest--sort of like going to a loan shark--that result in a price many times the original.

I am posting under an alias since I know other people from my company
subscribe to the list. I'm curious how other companies handle software
licensing? My boss doesn't want to buy additional copies or licenses for
OFFICE, REFLECTION, PROJECT, PAGEMAKER.... He simply tells us to load the
software and forget about it. What are other companies doing about this.
