HP3000 FTP does not work for E-Commerce file transfer

To Anyone who cares:

We have discovered that the HP3000 FTP (MPE 6.0 with latest FTP Patch)
will not transfer files to one of our E-Commerce partners because it
truncates part of the PUT command.  This transfer works fine on the PC
using Win98.

The command we use:

    PUT FILENAME "$$ command"

The command our partner sees:

   PUT FILENAME "$$

The HP only sends the command to the first space after what would be
the remote filename.

We will keep our RJE connection for now, but are very interested in
using FTP for future connectivity.  If anyone knows of an alternate
FTP for the HP3000 that works, please let me know.
