Yes, we have used the command line utility for file encryption before
transfer as well as for encrypting credit card data before storing in Image
datasets.

We use a version we compiled ourselves as it includes ALL the algorithms but
I have also sucessfully used the one from Jazz.

There is quite a bit of overhead if you are encrypting many files (when I say
many, I mean tens of thousands).
