It's worth noting that IBM was a bit stung by the fact that some (too many)
S/36 customers were opting to move to a different hardware platform...one
that supported RPGII and ISAM (KSAM)...was very cost effective, easy to use,
did not require systems programmers, had a bundled proprietary DB that was
reliable and very easy to setup/support/use,  and had a support staff that
was larger than the sales staff.
