My recommendation was to "defragment" your disks.
VOLUTIL's CONTIGVOL command
(http://docs.hp.com/cgi-bin/doc3k/B3021690189.13992/44) can be used to do this,
and various ISV defragmenting solutions are also available that offer a more
flexible and powerful solution:
