There are myriad ways of doing this but you neglected to say exactly which version of Windows we are dealing with here.

If I read your message correctly, you are saying that when you click on start-> Documents, you see the (now-deleted) Word documents
listed.

If you are using Windows XP, click on start, right-click on the menu and Taskbar and Start menu properties will show up. Click on
Start Menu tab, then click on customize. The Customize Start menu will show up. Click on Advanced and let your eyes wander down to
the bottom of that window, all will be revealed, or hidden.

If you are using Windows 2000, right click in an empty area of the taskbar. Click properties. Taskbar and start menu properties
will be displayed. Click on advanced tab and look at the middle of the window. Again, all will be revealed.

If you are using Windows 95, 98 or Me, this document thing is the very least of your worries. I would introduce your computer to
Mr. Sledgehammer (c) Stan Sieler. If you still insist on trying to fix the document list, right-click on the taskbar and look
around. I can't help you any further there.

Subject: OT: MSWord file directory

I'm trying to clean up my PC a bit, and delete old Microsoft Word documents
that are no longer relevant. When I delete a document within Word, the .DOC
file goes away but the file name remains in the list of documents. Of course
I can't open it, because it doesn't exist, but it would be really nice if the
file
name would go away too. Everyone I've asked just looks blank, because
they apparently never thought of deleting anything. There must be a file
somewhere that contains this list of file names, but I haven't found it.
Can anyone tell me how to delete the file name?

I don't do Windows, I do MPE!

Cecile Chi
