Hello Friends:
Brian Trembath of 3kWorld recently noted:
>Mike Whitley of Bradmark recently asked 3kworld.com about Oracle 8i, the
>3000 & e-Commerce.
>
>"...Given the oracle/speak partnership announcement and the
>fact that 8i is not going to be on the 3000, then how can the 3000 be
>considered a serious eCommerce platform by HP?..."
The answer, direct from HP, is on the MPE/ix Message Board at
3kworld.com. Just click on the following link:

It appears the answer is part of a thread named MPE/iX Message Board
that can be found on the page that Brian referenced.
The answer also in the latest issue of the 3000 NewsWire: 3000
Division General Manager Winston Prather told us in his Q&A interview:
"The main reason Oracle is such a big part of e-services on the
9000s, is that it's where the majority of the [9000] applications
really run. If I were to do a comparison with the 3000 world, I would
say the majority of our applications run on TurboIMAGE. In the 3000
space, to participate in e-services, it would be more important to
make sure TurboIMAGE works with e-services. The 3000 has a small
installed base of Oracle customers."
Prather has more to say about Oracle's past and future on the 3000,
and the 3000's involvement with e-speak, in our article. Read it at
http://www.3000newswire.com/subscribers/PratherQA-0001.html
I'll be hosting the 3kworld chat tomorrow at 10AM PST with Prather.
Bring your own follow-up questions, after reading our Q&A, to the
3kworld chat on Tuesday. I'd like to hear from HP 3000 customers
during the chat about which database they think will be more
important to e-services on the 3000.
