I'm always connected with ADSL at home too, but I just found out that
blanking the screen will improve my process time by up to a factor of 4
(thanks Wirt). Now maybe I can reclaim my spot in the Top 10.

I was reading up on ports when I originally posted the question as to
whether anyone would do a port to MPE for this. It seems that the experts
of the OS do the port and the SETI@Home folks adopt it. There's a big list
of people that have ported to UNIX platforms at
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/unix.html. That means an MPE guru has to
do the port. Know any?
