Hi, everyone:

I just got my CDs from Interex. Great stuff, indeed! Thank you, Kathy
Herzog & Co., for a very nice project.

I have some documentation comments
----------------------------------

The CD's back cover contains "The 60-second User's Guide", which is great,
but it also assumes that everybody has a Wintel PC. So,it goes through all
the gyrations having to do with "setup.exe", with the Program Manager (if
you are using Windows 3.1), with the Start/Programs/Eloquent menu (if you
are using Windows 95), and so on.

Fair enough.

I just popped the CD into my Mac and simply double-clicked on the Eloquent
icon *on the CD itself* and PRESTO. Simplicity itself.

My PowerBook 3400c has Mac OS 8. My kids have an old Performa which we
keep as a "black hole" in the attic with an ancient version of the Mac OS.
I did exactly the same trivial thing and the CD performed (no pun intended)
without any hiccups. Not bad for an old clunker... I tried it on all
other the Macs I could find, running all kinds of versions of the OS. No
problem. This reminded me of the HP3000 and its compatibilityt across
countless versions of the hardware/software.

Naturally, to be able to play talks on BOTH CDs, I needed to have the
program located elsewhere (i.e., not on CD number 1). So, I simply
dragged-and-dropped the Eloquent program from the CD to my Mac's hard disk
(on a location which was convenient for me). I could then easily move
around within BOTH CDs to get to all the talks.

Suggestion: Perhaps the nice folks at Eloquent can include a "One-sentence
User's Guide" for the Mac in addition to the two paragraphs for the clones
:-)

I have a fun comment
--------------------

Right at the beginning of David Greer's presentation, the transcript reads:

I'm David Greer, ... the trader of the HowMessy program
                         ^^^^^^

At the same time, David is saying "the creator"...

Being a programmer, I guess I'm just prone to LOOKING for bugs :-)

Seriously, now:
--------------

The Conference CD product is absolutely fantastic. You can search for any
WORD in the transcripts. I looked for "IMAGE" and 16 talks came up. Did
they put the top 20 talks on the CD? If so, IMAGE covers an excellent
percentage of the presentations :-)

Be sure to order yours if you did not go to Chicago. It's the next best
thing to having been there. I forgot what the exact instructions are for
ordering the CDs. Can Interex please chime in with the methodology (i.e.,
phone numbers, etc.)?

Way to go, Interex!
