Back then, I was helping our squadron get ready for the at-sea recovery
mission by the USS Hornet CVS-12. Unfortunately, us junior officers had to
stay at NAS North Island CA while the senior officers flew our S-2E Trackers
out to the ship. 

If you are ever in Oakland CA, go to the USS Hornet Museum and see the
Apollo exhibit. Very impressive! Some people on this list have had a
personal tour of the ship museum that I conducted in the past on several
occasions.
