from the "Homesteader's hope emerges from HP's world" article:
Wilde... noted that 19 of the top 20 application suppliers for the 3000 are
moving to HP's other platforms.

Should we assume that only CSY knows who these "top application suppliers"
are, or does anyone else?

While I am more interested in knowing if they also plan to * also *
homestead or support homesteaders, I am curious what Wilde and presumably hp
mean by "HP's other platforms". Presumably, this means any combination of
HP-UX, (RedHat) Linux, or Windows, and could possibly include OpenVMS (are
there any other viable OSs from the acquisition of Compaq that should be
included?).

And yet, only HP-UX and OVMS require one to remain an hp customer, and I
believe one can still buy hardware from Stratus which will run HP-UX (will
hp's use of Compaq's Tandem assets put an end to that relationship?). Unlike
these or an OpenMPE / RISC emulator, RHL / Linuxen and Windows can run on
hardware from other vendors, from Dell, Gateway, IBM, Sun, your local Podunk
Computers R Us, or components cobbled together.
