Svein,  I wrote a precis of my findings on this very subject a few months
ago.  In a nutshell, yes you can update a detail dataset linked to an
MSAccess table.  However if you use MSAccess tools, you will be unable to
properly control the update of entries with duplicate key values.  You do not
need to have your dataset linked to an MSAccess table in order to use VB.  I
do not have VB4.0 at the moment, because I did not think you could run VB4.0
through a 16bit ODBC API such as the one supported by HP. (Maybe that is your
problem.)  VB 3.0 runs fine for me directly to the dataset on the HP3000.
