Everyone I notified of this site expressed shock and awe.
Just a bit of the money we have been spending on the Iraq war sould have been directed to a Marshall Plan for U.S. public education, but on the other hand, if we were to do that (years ago, that is), there could, and probably would, be an enormous opposition to the war, and therefore, no Iraq war. Quelle dommage!
More money for schools, by itself, may not do a thing for education. We may need to also replace our indoctrination system with an education system and that will not be easy. But, other countries have built superb public education systems, and not only a few elite schools for the bright, or privileged.
It is never too late for revamping our education system, and we need to get started very soon, if not when you finish reading this line.

How is that for a naive rant?
