Well, you could do what we did here when we converted our HPIB printers to
serial. We configured them as Printer Type 22. I have no idea what this
does, other than allow status-checking between the printer and the HP3000 so
that we do not lose spool files due to power outage, paper outage, paper
jams, etc.
