Any CORBA experts out there?

Out of curiosity, I have been playing with (the free version of)
Voyager ORB from ObjectSpace as well as (the Open Source) JacORB
from FU Berlin on MPE/iX. Both seem to work reasonably well (at
least the few examples that I tried and/or created), the examples
could invoke "remote" objects on the 3000 as well as between the
3000 and my PC.

So far, so good. However, I have been unable to build one part of
my example program with Voyager and the other part with JacORB and
then have those two play together. Is it possble that there are
different "flavors" or versions of CORBA that won't work together?
The string IOR's returned by Voyager and JacORB look different to
me, thus my guess about different CORBA or IIOP versions or alike.

Any insight from someone who has more CORBA knowledge than me?

Lars "CORBA layman" Appel.

PS: Session snippets of my experiments are available on my personal
web page at http://www.editcorp.com/personal/lars_appel/index.html,
however, they do not include the details of my "cross ORB" failures.
