Others wrote asking for examples of time invested to manage a 3000.
 
System management/operations is 1/2 hr per day to have backups done.
Plus time to handle shutdowns/startups when the building power is
turned off one or 2 times a year. That requires about 1/2 hour of
my time to schedule the jobs that will shut down the apps and
system automatically - including tape backups. The system is already
set to automatically bring up apps after sytem startup.
 
Yes, there are the times when I have to check things out with SOO,
GLANCE, etc, etc...  But only when the user ask "How long ..."
(we are on a s/70).
