A very quick and inexpensive solution that ~doesn't~ provide true
load-balancing is to use your DNS to point your users to your front-end
boxes in a round-robin fashion.  Multiple CNAME entries with the same alias
but different hosts will create this effect.

If a box is down, users will connect to the one(s) that is up.  When the
down box does come up, there's no "magic" balancing -- it continues to be
round-robin.
