A proposed compromise. In large clear letters, just like the Absolut ads
(visit http://absolutcollectors.com/gallery/ or enter absolut vodka in a
search engine):

                                 Dear Carly:

We like the HP 3000 that Hewlett-Packard
invented 25 years ago so much that
we took out a full-page ad in
The Wall Street Journal to tell you.

In small letters, at bottom, just like the Absolut ads:
Why do I love thee?
Let me count the ways...
- 100% availability - POSIX - IA-64 -
- Image - Apache - forward compatible -
etc.

Now if we can just acquire something visually stunning for a graphic! Jeff
Kell suggested the owl. Could the owl work? Who "owns" that graphic? Like
the new monopoly money $20s, $10s, & $5s, there is something striking and
memorable about a detailed line art portrait.

Also, assuming we send Carly a card, I wonder what the impact would be of
not only signing it, but including one of our business cards (last I was
told, I'm allowed to give away my business cards to anyone). I think that
the pile of business cards could carry the same mass message as the
signatures, but on an additional channel, and make any follow up as
effortless as it can be.
