The C2490 works great as a PC/SERVER drive except that it generates a
lot of heat and possible noise.. You have to set the jumpers to the
defaults. You can get info on many drives used on the HP-3000 from
the Compaq web site. The first address below is the index. The
second is for the C2490.

Subject: C2490 disk drives

We recently upgraded the two 2.1Gb C2490 drives in our 928RX to larger
4.2Gb ST15150N's. Both drives are SCSI-2.

In the spirit of 'waste not, want not', we want to use the C2490's in
our LC and LD netservers.

First, is this possible? Will the netservers be able to 'see' the
C2490 drives?

Second, what changes, apart from setting the SCSI addresses, need to
be made to the jumpers for this to happen?

Many thanks in advance to those who respond here. I really appreciate
all the help I've gotten from the 'HP3K denizens' on the HP3000-L
list. I remain convinced that the HP3K community really does have the
nicest people!
