"Cardstock" unfortunately covers a wide range of thicknesses and weights. We
recently sent out 2000 postcards created wholly on the HP3000, in batch,
using only QueryCalc, which were printed to a 3000-networked HP4500 color
laser. Many of the people on this list received one of the postcards. While
the paper we used was thick enough for the US Post Office to consider it a
legitimate postcard, it was just barely thick enough. Nonetheless, on the
other hand, it was also just about as heavy as any piece of paper you can run
through a laser printer and expect it not to do damage to the printer.

If you really wished to print on heavy cardstock, you would need a printer
that essentially has a perfectly flat paper path, from input drawer to output
tray. I presume they exist, but they certainly aren't the norm.
