i'll point out that the newacct/newgroup collections of udcs has this
functionality built into them.  part of what comes with the 'package'
is a command file -- blduvol -- that creates a reference file for all
accounts on the system that *don't* live on the system volume.  the
reference file is user edittable (if you want).  personally, i
incorportate blduvol into my weekly job that creates a new slt.  that
way, it's always reasonably up-to-date (which is fine in my
environment).  additionally, the newacct udc has 'hooks' in it to
update this file when a newacct is created on a private
volume.          - d
