You are right  - when I sent the post about the Clampetts, I couldn't help
thinking of the Beverly Hillbillies & Buddy Ebsen (OHHH  DOGGIES!)  ;-)

BTW years ago when I was in Tombstone I bought a reprint of the Tombstone
newspaper FROM the day after the famous gun fight.

Basically the Earps goaded the Clantons (and the accomplices; forget their
names too) - goaded them into a fight. Quite a bit different from the
Hollywood portrayal.
